Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test (IMU CET 2016) for Undergraduate Courses
The Indian Maritime University (IMU) is a Central University established by an Act of the Indian Parliament, namely the Indian Maritime University Act 2008, on 14th November 2008. The headquarters of IMU is at Chennai and has campuses at Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, Visakhapatnam, Cochin and Kandla Port.The University also has 36 affiliated institutes.
The seven government maritime training and research institutes that were merged with IMU are:
- Maritime Engineering and Research Institute, Kolkata

- Lal Bahadur Shastri College of Advanced Maritime Studies & Research, Mumbai
- S. Chanakya, Mumbai
- National Maritime Academy, Chennai

IMU CET is a Common Entrance Test conducted by the Indian Maritime University for admission to all Undergraduate programs offered by IMU and its affiliated Institutes.
The undergraduate programmes offered by the Indian Maritime University in its Campuses and Affiliated Institutes are:
- 4-Year B.Tech (Marine Engineering)
- 4-Year B.Tech (Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering)
- 3-Year B.Sc (Ship Building & Repair)
- 3-Year B.Sc (Maritime Science)
- 3-Year B.Sc (Nautical Science)
- 1-Year Diploma in Nautical Science leading to B.Sc. (Applied Nautical Science)
IMU CET will be conducted on 4th June 2016.
The online registration process has started from 1st April 2016 and the last date for online registration is 13th May 2016. The application fee is Rs.1000 for General candidates and Rs. 700 for Scheduled Cast/Scheduled Tribe students.

IMU CET 2016 Application Procedure
Here are the steps to apply for the IMU CET 2016application process.
- Go to the official website of the IMU, e., www.imu.edu.in.
- Click on the link “ CET June 2016 for Admissions to UG and PG Programmes: Apply Online”.
- In the next step clink on the link “CLICK HERE to Apply Online for CET June 2016”.
- After reading all the instructions, select the checkbox and click on register.
- Now, fill in all the information for Basic Registration for CET and click on the submit button.
- You will receive an application number on the next screen, which will be sent on your contact number and email as well.
- In next step login with your application number and date of birth.
- Now, enter your personal, education and exam details and click on the submit button.
- Candidates need to upload the soft copy of all the documents required in the application form.
- In the next step pay the application fee by entering all the bank details.
- Take a print of the application form and fee receipt for the future reference.
IMU CET 2016 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who fulfill the following eligibility criteria can apply for the IMU CET 2016.
For 1-Year DNS Programme leading to B.Sc.(Applied Nautical Science):
- Candidate should have passed 10+2 exam or equivalent with a minimum of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and 50% marks in English.
OR
- Candidate should have passed B.Sc. with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with at least 50% marks or B.Sc. from Electronics with Physics as individual subject in one of the years with at least 50% marks.A 50% mark in English is compulsory.
OR
- Candidate must have passed E./B.Tech from IIT or college recognised by AICTE with at least 50% marks. A 50% marks in English is compulsory. (In case of SC/ST candidates there will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks; however, it will not apply to English marks.)
For 3 Year B.Sc.(Nautical Science):
- Candidate should have passed 10+2 exam or equivalent with a minimum of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and 50% marks in English. (In case of SC/ST candidates there will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks; however, it will not apply to English marks.)
For 3 Year B.Sc.(Maritime Science):

IMU CET 2016 Exam Pattern
- The Common Entrance Test will be a computer-based online test for all undergraduate courses.
- There will be multiple choice type questions in the exam.
- The exam will consist of questions from Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, General Knowledge, English, and Aptitude.
- There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers.
- The duration of the test will be 3 hours.
IMU CET 2016 Exam Center
IMU CET 2016 will be conducted in the following 34 cities across India:

IMU CET 2016 Admit Card
Admit Card will be made available for the candidates to download on the official website, i.e., www.imu.edu.in from 20th May 2016. Admit Card will include the detail about time and venue of common entrance test. Candidates are advised to preserve this authenticated admit card for further selection processes at individual institutes. Entry in examination hall will only be allowed with the admit card.
IMU CET 2016 Result
The result of the IMU CET 2016 will be announced on the official website, i.e., www.imu.edu.in on 10th June 2016.Candidates can enter their roll number and date of birth to check their results. Candidates are requested to visit IMU’s website periodically to keep track of new announcements and changes if any.
IMU CET 2016 Counselling
Candidates who get shortlisted based on CET scores will be required to register for Online Counselling for allotment of seats to the various Undergraduate Programmes of IMU Campuses.Verification of original mark sheets and certificates, physical fitness clearance, etc. will be done before the final allotment of seats.
From the academic year 2016-17 onwards Online counselling will be limited to admissions into IMU Campuses only. Affiliated Institutes will not be included in the process of Online Counselling. Students who have cleared the CET and are desirous of seeking admissions to Affiliated Institutes may approach the Institutes directly.
