Government of Haryana has decided to establish a medical college in Karnal in the memory of famous astronaut Kalpana Chawla to keep her alive in hearts of people. Formal announcement in this regard was made by Honorable Chief Minister of Haryana on 26.01.2010 and accordingly construction of a medical college for 100 MBBS seats and attached 500 bedded hospital has been planned. The foundation stone of the medical college (KCGMC) was laid down by Shri Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Honorable Chief Minister Haryana on 18.11.2012. The esitimated cost of the project is Rs 645.77 crore. The Hospital Services Consultation Corporation (HSCC) INDIA Ltd, Noida has been appointed as consultant for providing specialised services for the construction of the college on turnkey basis.
