Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) 2 2016 Notification,  Application Form, Exam Details, Exam Date. Expected date: Last week of June, 2016

**AFCAT 2 2016 Notification has not been released yet. It will be published here as soon as released.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) is likely to released the official notification for AFCAT 2 2016 in the end week of June, 2016. Interested and eligible candidates will be able to apply online for Air Force Common Admission Test on or before the last date as mentioned in the notification when released.
Applications are invited from Male and Female Indian citizens for the recruitment of officers in the Flying branch, Technical and Ground Duty Branches of IAF. Candidates, interested in applying for AFCAT 1 exam, can read eligibility and all other details on this page.

AFCAT 1 2016 examination was conducted on 21st February for which results are expected to be released in the last week of March, 2016.

About AFCAT

The Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is conducted by the Indian Air Force twice (usually in February and September) every year for selection of Officers in various branches of the force including

  1. Flying Branch (Short Service Commission)
  2. Technical Branch (Short Service Commission and Permanent Commission)
  3. Ground Duty Branch (Short Service Commission and Permanent Commission)

AFCAT Eligibility Criteria

1) Flying Branch


Education: Graduation (min 3 years) in any discipline with min 60% marks and have passed Maths and Physics as subject at 10+2 level OR B.E/ B.Tech from a recognized University with min 60% marks.

Age Limit: 20 to 24 years as on 01.07.2017 (born between 02.07.1993 to 01.07.1997 including both dates). Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and Current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxed up to 26 years i.e. born between 02.07.1991 to 01.07.1997 (both dates inclusive).

Min Height: 162.5 cms with correlated weight

Min Vision: 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other

2) Technical Branch

Education: Four year degree qualification or have cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with 60% marks

Age Limit: 20 to 26 years on 01.07.2017 (born between 02.07.1991 to 01.07.1997 including both dates)

Min Height: 157.5 cms with correlated weight, women – 152 cms

3) Ground Duty Branch

Education: Graduate degree (Min 3 years) in any discipline with min 60% marks or Post graduate degree with min 50% marks for Administration and Logistics posts.

B.Com with min 60% marks or Post graduate degree in Commerce/ CA/ ICWA with min 50% marks for Accounts posts

Post graduate degree in any discipline with min 50% marks for Education posts

Age Limit: 20 to 26 years on 01.07.2017 (born between 02.07.1991 to 01.07.1997 including both dates)

Min Height: 157.5 cms with correlated weight, women – 152 cms

* Candidates, who have failed the PABT test earlier, are not eligible for this exam.

* Final year students can also apply for AFCAT 2016 exam given that they have secured 60% marks in aggregate with no present backlog and must be able to provide provisional or original degree certificate before commencing the training.

AFCAT 2 2016 Selection Process

AFCAT selection process involves following steps

  1. Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) and Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT – only for Technical branch).
  2. AFSB Interview
    1. Screening test
    2. Psychological test, Group test and Interview
    3. CPSS and/ or PABT only for Flying branch

How to Apply?

Eligible and interested candidates will be able to apply online on the website careerairforce.nic.in or by following the steps given below

  1. Click on ‘New Registration’ link below
  2. Fill in your details in the Registration form and Submit
  3. A User ID and password will be sent to your email.
  4. Use the User ID and password to login by using the ‘Login for Online Application’ link below
  5. Fill in your application form, Upload recent color passport size photograph, signature and thumb impression
  6. Complete the application and Take a print out
  7. On successful completion of Application, candidates will receive Registration ID in their email

Changes/ Modification in Submitted Application

Many candidates are asking questions about whether it is possible to change or edit information once the application is submitted. Well, here is your answer

  • AFCAT doesn’t allow you to edit or change any details in your application once it is submitted (No further changes would be allowed after final submission of the form)
  • You cannot fill duplicate application with the same details (Name/ Email) as it will lead to rejection
